INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

COLORS TO BOOST YOUR TAN

By Style Feed Staff, July 31, 2017

You’ve slathered on the sunscreen, stayed sensibly hydrated and managed to avoid a beetroot Bieber situation, so you should now be in possession of a pretty impressive tan — but the hard work isn’t over. Now’s the time to deck yourself out in some colors that will really bring out the bronze.

Pastels

You don't have to be an expert to know that pale colors are the easiest way to make the most of your vacay glow. Take your pick of pale pink, blue or green to maximize your tan. A pastel palette will do some good work bringing out the warm tones in your skin, as well as continuing your vacation vibes even when you're firmly back into the 9-5.

White

Frosty white's a no-brainer — whatever shade you’re working with, it will create maximum contrast to give the illusion of a deeper, darker tan. While all-white can work well on home turf, it can make for some interesting vacation looks. Mix in white shirts, tees and shorts with other colors to avoid looking like the missing member of a 2000s boyband.

Black

Sure, lighter colors will naturally make you look more tanned but, if you’re on the bronzer side of things, black will equally highlight your hard work. While the rest of your crew are wearing white, a solid black shirt or tee will make your tan stand out in a much more sophisticated manner.

Navy

If you want to emphasize your tan in a dark hue but think black will wash you out, navy is the next best thing. Slightly softer and timelessly chic, it's warmer than black. Wear it with white for a classic nautical combination that will see you sail into the bronze age.
