FLAT LAY

YOUR BACK-TO-WORK OUTFIT

By Rebecca Wade, September 5, 2017

It's back-to-school season for the kids and as the warm weather, Sunday BBQs and weekend getaways draw to an end, it's easy to get caught up in the back-to-work blues, too. One way to shake that feeling? Slip on a fresh new ensemble. If your office attire is one of those suit-and-tie scenarios, easy. But, navigating a more relaxed dress code whilst still looking sharp can be tricky. With that in mind, we’ve rustled up this nifty little flat lay so you can look the business in a casj but work-ready get-up. Take a look...

With the unpredictable September climate, several weather-app checks before you leave the house in the morning is definitely advisable. If it’s looking on the chillier side, go with a staple, pinstriped shirt for a put-together base then layer a warming knit in fall colors over the top. If not, stick with a more lightweight, half-zip polo in a similarly seasonal shade. Dickies chinos are the ideal mediator between jeans and pants, so — if you haven’t already — add a pair to your workwear wardrobe now.

The trick to striking the perfect smart-casj balance with your add-ons is by simply opting for more polished versions of your standard, day-to-day accessories. Take these shoes, for example. Whilst off-duty, we prefer our sneaks with a few well-worn scuffs, but work requires a clean color aesthetic. So, these spotless Reebok Club Cs will walk the fine line between dress codes with ease. For an office-appropriate update on the average black backpack, go for a minimalist boxy shape in a smart faux-leather fabric. And finally, complete the look with a pair of intelligent-looking specs. Job done.
