INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

STYLISH GUYS IN COLOR CO-ORDS

By Lakeisha Goedluck, October 4, 2017

A few years back, the idea of a two-piece combo would've instantly brought back memories of awkward childhood outfits. However, in 2017, the sartorially savvy know that co-ords are where it’s at. For a standout ‘fit that requires minimum effort, take a look at these guys in seriously slick matching sets for inspiration…

Oversized outfit

For FW17, it’s all about rocking oversized gear. To switch up your silhouette, opt for loose-fitting threads in bright colors as this guy expertly demonstrates. Follow his lead and go for a cropped, boxy jacket to really play around with shape. Understandably, he’s kept his accessories to a minimum, but peep the silver chain on his pants which adds a punk element to his ensemble. Extra points for the aquamarine bowl haircut.

Camo cuts

Alongside the likes of houndstooth and tartan, camouflage is one of those timeless prints that you can don all year round. As it’s quite a striking pattern, do it like this dude and go for a set in subdued colors. But notice the orange ribbon detailing adding a flash of color, and how his turtleneck nicely offsets his loose-fitting bomber and wide-leg pants. For a strong utilitarian finish, military-style boots are the one.

Short-sleeved steeze

It may be getting colder outside, but there’s no need to abandon your short-sleeved pieces just yet. As this street-styler shows, summer-ready co-ords in vibrant colors can brighten up the gloomiest of days. To make this look appropriate for fall/winter, try wearing a white long-sleeved turtleneck underneath or layer up with a longline overcoat in a dark shade. Throw on a leather belt to subtly divide the two halves and pop on some clean white kicks to keep things fresh.

Bold button-up

Now this guy looks proper cozy. This cobalt co-ord is just what you need for winter, as it’s easy to style with additional layers. Wear it buttoned up for a more refined look, and add in a stripy scarf that features the same shade as your duds to show that you’ve got skills when it comes to color-blocking. Don’t forget your sturdy coat and heavy-duty boots to finish.

Novel neutrals

This dude's combo is a work of art. Literally. His longline overcoat and matching off-white pants with rolled cuffs serve up serene, minimalist vibes, but it’s the Jackson Pollock-esque paint splashes that make his look. A classic white T-shirt worn underneath keeps his 'fit laid-back rather than too loud, especially when paired with equally popping kicks.
