Best part of Matthew McConaughey's Golden Globes acceptance speech for Dallas Buyers Club? He opened with "Alright, alright, alright," one of his most memorable lines as David Wooderson in Dazed and Confused. McConaughey may be the toast of Hollywood, but we'll always remember his golden era. Here's why we want to hop in Wooderson's 1970 Chevy Chevelle Super Sport and just keep livin', man…L-I-V-I-N.

1. We all know a Wooderson—y'know, that guy who tries to hang with the high school crowd (when he's, uh, obviously not in high school). Turns out the inspiration for the character was closer to McConaughey than you might think. "I'm not this guy. But I know this guy. My brother as I saw him when I was 10 years old," he told director Richard Linklater. No wonder he played it so well.

2. The "Just Keep Livin'" motto he practiced in Dazed and Confused? Well, it's McConaughey's too. His production company, charity and clothing line are all named after it. This is one consistent, dude.

3. For a megastar, his idea of living the grand life just ain't so grand. "My Airstream trailer is 28 by 7 feet and it's got everything I need," McConaughey said a few years back. "My living space is so small I can sit on the toilet and scramble eggs at the same time. How cool is that?" Somehow we really see Wooderson enjoying the toilet/scrambled egg lifestyle. Livin', is right.
