Here at ASOS, we <3 blogger Gabi Gregg of GabiFresh. She's not only one seriously stylin' lady, but she's also all about being body-confident and ignoring strict fashion rules (oh, and did we mention she can do a mean dance to Beyoncé?). So naturally, we had to enlist her to pick her fave items from the site that will guarantee your swag is on point this summer. Shop her edit here, and read on for highlights of our chat with Gabi!
When it comes to fashion, you're fearless! What tips would you give other girls looking to branch out and shake things up in their wardrobe?
"I think it really starts with accepting your body — that truly frees you to experiment with fashion instead of using clothing as a way to hide or look smaller. I always tell girls to look at women whose style they admire, and try a few of their signature looks on. I truly believe anyone can pull anything off, it's just a matter of wearing it with confidence."
What SS14 trends are you loving — and what are you stoked to wear this summer?
"I'm obsessed with matching short sets! Both of my favorites have come from ASOS, including the elephant print one I'm wearing here. I'm still loving crop tops too, so I expect to wear them non-stop in the LA heat all summer long."
Crop tops, mixing prints, and ripped jeans: three huge trends right now, but some are scared to wear them. How would you suggest styling these?
"I always opt for higher waisted cuts when wearing crop tops. It's a great way to show some skin while still feeling supported. Mixing prints is all about finding colors that coordinate, and making sure both prints are opposing scales (mixing one large print with another smaller print). I like having fun with ripped jeans by pairing them with something a little fancier, like a structured blazer and sparkly statement necklace."
You recently went blonde — tell us about the change, has it changed what you wear at all?
"I'm obsessed! It's something I've wanted to do forever, but I listened to other people (including my mom) for far too long and didn't do it. I saw so many beautiful brown girls like Beyoncé and Ciara rocking it, so I finally decided to take the plunge. Plus, I just moved to LA – what better time? I will say it can limit what I'm wearing – not all shades work well with this hair color! But it balances out, because when colors work, they really work."
