3 HAIRSTYLES FOR SUMMER 2017
By Sam Higgins, June 4, 2017
Summer is well and truly here and your wardrobe is no doubt looking significantly more seasonal — but now it’s time to focus on that hair of yours. Many of you may have already taken our advice and made your winter 'dos more summer-ready with a few simple, subtle tweaks. But for those after a whole new cut, we’ve picked out the three making waves in the grooming game right now.
Short and messy
We can’t argue with the neatness of a meticulously-crafted cut, but recently more and more people seem willing to embrace their natural style. That’s not to say your flowing locks can’t be given some gentle encouragement into a sharp style, though. Here, it’s all about keeping things neat on the back and sides, while focusing on texture up top. Ensure you keep weight in the bulk of your crop and tease it forward into a nicely messy style.
Long natural locks
As always, the key to nailing summer hair is to successfully achieve a low maintenance, lightweight trim. This is especially hard for those blessed with longer locks, but, again, keeping things natural will benefit your hair when the mercury rises. The key here is to keep it just shorter than shoulder-length and smash the "fresh-out-the-shower" look by nonchalantly pushing your hair into place so the messy curls can fall where they wish.
On first glance, this may seem the more fashion-forward steez of the three, but don’t let the bold cut deter you from switching things up. This technical trim actually offers a plethora of hairstyle takeaways, starting with a sharp fade on the back and sides. Start with the lowest grade possible, like this guy, to create harsh contrast in lengths before blending in the top neatly. The color, however, is up to you — for those wishing to add a bolder distinction, bleach the top and leave the roots to grow through for a layered look. Or, alternatively, keep things simple for a style that offers more than just your basic buzzcut.
