Dadcore styling has been on the rise for a few years now and, judging by its showing in some of the biggest SS18 menswear shows, it’s a look that’s in for the long haul. Rather than following popular fashion fads, the low-key look champions functional pieces paired together with a practical, "dad"-like mindset — but, ironically, dadcore is now a major trend itself. So, with that in mind, here's how you can get on board…
YOUR SS18 DADCORE OUTFIT
By Rebecca Wade, August 30, 2017
Start with a classic pair of loose-fit, stonewashed jeans, roll them up to ankle-flashing heights and show off some salmon socks. It wouldn't be old-school father fashion without a pair of durable white sneakers, so go for a reliable household name like ASICS, and opt for padded cushioning and a chunky sole to ensure wear all-day-everyday ease.
Up top, a striped cotton shirt is an appropriately inoffensive choice which will look dad-casj and check all the comfort boxes. Plus, you can add some color by throwing on a simple, terracotta pullover with blue and white edging. Remember — no fuss. Practicality is the crux of any dadcore look. So make sure you come prepared for the imminent fall in a neutral waterproof parka with functional pockets and a longline fit. Finish with a mint wool hat for extra warmth, and, of course, a fanny pack.
