ASOS INSIDERS: WINTER STYLE
By Lakeisha Goedluck, January 26, 2018
At this time of year, it can be tough to strike the balance between staying warm and looking wavy. Luckily, these ASOS Insiders have got cold-weather dressing down to a tee — from colorful overcoats to toasty tracksuit bottoms, they’ve nailed the biggest trends of the season. So, for inspiration on dressing well this winter, just take a look below…
When it comes to compiling neutral-colored ’fits, @asos_ashley is somewhat of an expert. It may be winter, but here he proves that lighter hues can work for colder weather too. Wearing an on-trend half-zip overhead jacket and wide-leg pants in a subtle off-white shade, Ashley layers up with a heritage check overcoat to add a refined element to his look. Extra props for styling it with a checked scarf to show that he can experiment with traditional patterns.
An avid supporter of a clean aesthetic, here, @asos_oliver effortlessly masters monochrome dressing. Jumping on the half-zip hype alongside Ashley, Oliver chooses to wear his black one over a T-shirt in the same color to create a uniform base. He then layers up with a black puffer jacket — the much-coveted '90s outerwear option that’s made a serious comeback this season. On his bottom half, he switches things up and opts for pale-gray pants and a worn-in pair of white Vans Authentic sneakers.
Donning unusual color combinations is the way to go this season, and it seems that @asos_dennis has fully taken the trend on board. Unlike the aforementioned Insiders, he picks a dark-mustard knit to form the foundation of his get-up. He chooses a check borg longline coat to wear over the top — notice how the pattern features the color of his sweater. Down low, he goes for black cropped jeans and a steezy pair of monochrome Air Max 90s.
Although an Australian native accustomed to warm weather, @asos_jono still knows how to switch it up when the temperature dips. He goes for a graphic-print hoodie in a rich-burgundy hue and layers it with a black bomber jacket — a failsafe combination to sport when the mercury starts to drop. To finish off his outfit, he channels the '70s – a popular decade for sartorial inspiration this season. He opts for a pair of era-appropriate velour adidas track pants and pairs them with chunky-soled Air Force 1s.
If you already follow @asos_luce on Instagram, you’ll know that he’s well versed when it comes to putting together streetwear-lead ensembles with a twist. Here, he kicks off his look with a black Led Zepplin band T-shirt and teams it with a complementary cap and joggers. As vibrant coats are where it’s at for FW17, he offsets his all-black base with a fiery-red parka. On foot, he keeps it colorful with a pair of super-slick kicks.
