FLAT LAY

LOOKS FOR SPRING WEDDINGS

April 3, 2019

Springtime is officially the start of wedding season so, rather than wait until the week before the big event to decide on what to wear, take a look at the two outfits below for some guest-list guidance. Take your pick between formal and more low-key looks — because different weddings serve up different vibes, you know?

As far as SS19 runways were concerned, statement tailoring (and tailoring in general) is big for spring/summer. Comme des Garçons and Paul Smith were but two heavyweights showcasing an adventurous leap forward in suiting — so why not channel some of this bold-is-best approach for your own big events? This pink-and-white striped suit definitely makes a refreshing change from the safety of navy and gray two-pieces. Keep the color story going strong with an accompanying revere-collar shirt and hexagon sunnies — you know, so you don’t have to squint your way through all those group shots. To finish? Cop a pair of tan loafers in the same shade as the buttons on the jacket to bring the look together. Tonal skills for sure.

Not all weddings call for the full suit-and-shirt combo. It may be a relaxed register courthouse sitch, or maybe you're hitting up the celebrations after the main event is done and dusted. So we're talking a more casual edge, yes, but it's just good form to stick to a suit like the stone-hued, two-piece above. To ease up on the formality, swap out the shirt for a simple tee and elevate the look slightly with a statement chunky necklace. A smart cross-body bag keeps your pockets free while adding a sprinkling of streetwear-inspired goodness and those chunky, sneaker/shoe, hybrid-style kicks ensure your look stays low-key smart, not to mention comfy AF.
