HOW TO WEAR: NEW-SEASON LAYERING
By Spencer Cain, November 4, 2018
Just because the temps are dropping doesn't mean it's time to sacrifice your steez, right? Right. While it may seem like a daunting task that could leave you looking like Joey that time he wore all of Chandler's clothes at once on Friends (although according to Balenciaga, that's not such a bad thing anyway), becoming a master layer player isn't as hard as it looks. In order to assist you with this tricky transitional time, here's how to pile on the layers right now...
If there's an essential piece for any gentleman's wardrobe during chilly days, it's got to be the trench coat. Quite frankly, they elevate any 'fit, so team your favorite cropped pants and a white shirt beneath for an instant hit.
An underrated component of layering is the accessories that piece is all together. Embrace your inner Luka Sabbat and up your ring game, then take a cue from your grandmother and go for a patterned scarf. Effortless and epic all in one.
One of the most consistent struggles of the season is juggling the varying levels of heat. The perfect foundation is a classic white tee and the adidas trackies we've all been living in. The next step? A fresh bomber.
But if you need something a little on the warmer side, a chambray shirt is an ideal middle piece and always provides an immediate dose of chill. Don a pair of colorful shades for the ultimate in retro vibes.
Some days call for a more elegant approach (read: if a fancy drinks sitch is on the cal after the office). Instead of traditional tailoring, bring on the pattern clashing and mix stripes and checks.
Double up in the jacket department and rock a blazer or light bomber under that trusty denim jacket which always comes in the clutch. Yep, two jackets. Get into it.
