INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

WHAT TO WEAR TO FRIENDSGIVING

By Spencer Cain, November 13, 2018

'Tis the season to toast friendship. Ahead of nonstop family time, Black Friday and subsequent days spent in sweatpants (we can't wait), Friendsgiving is here. But what to wear? Fear not, we've got you — so the only debate you'll have to partake is in whether or not it's all about canned or homemade cranberry sauce on the table...

Potluck princess

If your Instagram feed is anything like ours these days, it's filled with people "going upstate" every weekend — which always results in an array of apple-picking and cider-sipping shots flanked by stunning fall foliage. Well, we say it's time to borrow some steez from the trees and incorporate a strong seasonal color palette into your look. First up, a mustard turtleneck — complemented with a statement bag and patterned pants that demand to be worn right now. To upgrade your gear and impress your crew, a pop of color is best applied in the shoe department. Chic.

Night-out neutrals

If your evening is kicking off with dinner but not stopping there (read: if a steady flow of libations, dancing and late-night pizza may be involved), you've gotta look the part. As per usual, a camel borg coat is always a good idea — not only does it keep you warm but it basically doubles as a blanket for that commute home. A blingy skirt that still stays within the neutral palette is clutch — but what really sets this off is the perfectly on-trend snakeskin boots. Easy, right? Now you have more time to focus on the pumpkin pie you're bringing.

Thanksgiving Eve flow

We're all familiar with the night before Thanksgiving. If you've made the journey home, the chance of seeing everyone from high school is at an all-time high, which means the 'fit has to be fresh. Now, going OTT is always an option, but save those sparkles for peak party season and take the Scandi approach here. A low-key sequin skirt is expertly contrasted with an XXL sweater — which serves all the casj and comfy vibes as you ease into the big day.
