5 FASHION MONTH FW19 MAKEUP TRENDS
March 8, 2019
The FW19 shows are over, but it’s not all bad — whether it’s the disco-themed glitter lids seen at Ashish or the bold, berry lips at Simone Rocha, there are heaps of exciting new makeup trends taking shape for the season ahead (even neon eyelashes made an appearance). So, if you’re looking for some makeup inspiration that you can take away and get creative with yourself, here are our fave next-season trends to try out now.
Since day one, Halpern has been making a case for sequins to be worn anytime, anywhere — even in broad daylight. And you won’t hear us complaining. Created by Isamaya Ffrench, makeup this season followed suit with a collection of glittering Art-Deco-inspired eye looks featuring gold leaf, as well as MAC’s primary shades of blue and yellow making like little works of art across the models’ eyelids.
Bold berry lips
"Grungy goth girls who have been running across the moors in wild weather" is how makeup artist Sam Bryant described the look created for Simone Rocha’s FW19 show, which included not one but two serious trends this season: berry lipstick and hair accessories.
Talk about a major skin moment. Toga’s FW19 show came to life with glossy lids and a "post-workout" glow — an effect enhanced by being set in a real life stadium. Skin was prepped with NARS Illuminator, moisture cream and hydrating toner (skincare being the main element to create the natural-looking glow). "The beauty look this season is a minimal, effortless look with hint of glossy eyes and skin," said Sada Ito, NARS Global Artistry Director.
Inspired by Dolly Parton, makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench applied glitter on glitter to models' lips, cheeks and eyeshadows backstage at Ashish, all the better to show up under the disco ball on the runway. Ffrench used three different MAC glitter palettes on the eyes and two different shades on the lips to maximise the effect of the makeup.
A celebration of individuality, it was hard not to take note of House of Holland’s vibrant show, complete with color-clashing prints and a mix-up of patterns and bold colors. As for the makeup, MAC’s teal blues stole the show (a trend we’ll be seeing a lot more of this coming season) with electric-blue eyeliner for extra drama. Meanwhile, hair was slicked back using BaByliss tools.
